May 2013 Desktop Wallpaper – Bowling Ball Beach

Late April and early May has been a whirlwind for me with a cross-country move and several trips in between, so my apologies for the delay on the May wallpaper. Better late than never, though, right?! May’s photo comes from a little known beach in northern California called Bowling Ball Beach. These boulders range from 1 foot wide to some close to 4 feet. A long exposure really sets a nice mood and this particular evening I was blessed with an amazing sunset to complement the boulders.

April 2013 Desktop Wallpaper – Golden Gate and Bay Bridge

In late March, many iconic structures across the world turned off their lights to celebrate Earth Hour. The Golden Gate Bridge was no exception, and I wanted to make sure I photographed the rare experience of the tower lights going dark. After capturing several wide shots, I decided to shoot the Bay Bridge underneath, showing a view of the two major Bay Area bridges from Kirby Cove.

March 2013 Desktop Wallpaper – Pigeon Point Lighthouse

Over the past month I’ve made the move to Bay Area from California. My last few weeks have presented amazing opportunities not only to shoot with the excellent photographers that live in this area, but to photograph something different from the mountains of Colorado. I’ve spend a good amount of my time just driving down Highway 1, taking in sunsets. This shot was taken near Santa Cruz at the Pigeon Point Lighthouse.

January 2013 Desktop Wallpaper – Loveland Pass, Colorado

Winter is finally in full swing in Colorado, especially on Loveland Pass, which always sees some of the harshest winter conditions. After an adventure in sub-zero temperatures, I shot this photo just above the A-Basin ski resort as the sun was wrapping up the day.

December 2012 Desktop Wallpaper – Golden Gate Bridge

December 2012 Desktop Wallpaper Golden Gate Bridge

Earlier this month, I had an opportunity to shoot with 4 of my favorite San Francisco photographers in their own backyard and what better place to shoot in the bay area than the Golden Gate Bridge. Thanks to Joe Azure, Toby Harriman, Michael Bonocore, and Todd Sipes for showing me one of the best place to shoot the Golden Gate Bridge.

November 2012 Desktop Wallpaper – Blanca Peak, Colorado

November 2012 Desktop Wallpaper Blanca Peak Colorado

With fall winding down in Colorado, I’ve been making it a point to get a few more difficult mountains climbed before they’re covered with snow. Blanca Peak, a 14er in the Sangre de Cristo range, has been on my list for a while. This was shot the night before while camping in the valley below.

October 2012 Desktop Wallpaper – Dallas Divide, Colorado

October 2012 Desktop Wallpaper Dallas Divide

Fall in Colorado is the best time of year, and the San Juan mountains in southwestern Colorado are the best place to experience it. This shot, taken from the top of the Dallas Divide, shows Mount Sneffels, a 14,000ft mountain, towering over the aspens in the valley below.

September 2012 Desktop Wallpaper – Blue Lake, Alaska

One of my favorite things about photography is that luck can be just as much a part of a photo as years of knowledge and experience. My friends and I only expected to shoot at Blue Lake in Alaska for a few minutes before heading off to another location for the day, but when we came over the crest and saw the still lake, we were greeted with a rowboat that seemed to hover on top of the smooth water – the perfect foreground subject. We ended up staying here for an hour and this was one of my favorite shots. The lake was so calm and the air so still that it’s almost difficult to tell where the boat ends and the lake begins.

August 2012 Desktop Wallpaper – Mount Edgecumbe, Alaska

Sitka Alaska Mount Edgecumbe desktop wallpaper

I had a incredible opportunity to travel to Alaska in June with two good photographer friends, Colby Brown and Joe Azure. We spent an entire week hiking, taking photos of the ocean, mountains, bears, and all the wonderful scenery that Alaska has no shortage of. Denver has had a stretch of multiple 100+ degree days this summer, so a trip to the cool, cloudy Sitka, Alaska was something that I intend to make a summer tradition. This shot was on one of the first nights in Sitka and one of the few that a sunset actually made it’s way through the clouds. It was worth the wait as this light show on Mount Edgecumbe was amazing.
