June 2013 Desktop Wallpaper – Trout Lake and Mount Shasta

This photo was shot on an early morning at Trout Lake in Northern California. This adventure led me into the countryside where myself and 3 of my photographer friends spent all night capturing the Milky Way over an abandoned barn. We wrapped up the all-nighter at Trout Lake before heading back to San Francisco on little sleep.

(A big thank you to Aperture Academy’s Brian Rueb for the GPS coordinates and location help in finding this and other epic spots throughout this weekend.)

Fresh Shots – Loveland Pass

With winter in full swing around Colorado, I’ve been making it a point to spend as much of my time in the mountains as possible to capture the snowy scenes. My go-to spot as of recently has been Loveland Pass. Due to it’s location close to Denver, Loveland Pass gets plenty of backcountry skiers that hike to earn their turns in untouched powder.

January 2013 Desktop Wallpaper – Loveland Pass, Colorado

Winter is finally in full swing in Colorado, especially on Loveland Pass, which always sees some of the harshest winter conditions. After an adventure in sub-zero temperatures, I shot this photo just above the A-Basin ski resort as the sun was wrapping up the day.

November 2012 Desktop Wallpaper – Blanca Peak, Colorado

November 2012 Desktop Wallpaper Blanca Peak Colorado

With fall winding down in Colorado, I’ve been making it a point to get a few more difficult mountains climbed before they’re covered with snow. Blanca Peak, a 14er in the Sangre de Cristo range, has been on my list for a while. This was shot the night before while camping in the valley below.

January 2012 Desktop Wallpaper – Behind Delicate Arch

January 2012 Desktop Wallpaper Utah Night

This past week I made a trip to shoot Delicate Arch, the popular photography location in eastern Utah. Having never been to this location when there are less than 50 tourists gathered around the feature, I knew that I would have to get creative if I wanted to come back to Colorado with something I was proud of. Thus, I didn’t shoot the arch at all. This photo was taken looking in the complete opposite direction of Delicate Arch. Sometimes at beautiful locations it pays to look behind you as well.

7 ski/snowboard films for 2011 that you must watch

A quick warning that what lies ahead is a quick and easy way to waste away an hour of your Monday afternoon. For whatever reasons, ski/snowboard film companies release all of their movie teasers for their fall movies in the dead heat of summer. While I’m out riding mountain bikes and rock climbing, now I can come back to my computer and dream of riding fresh powder in January. Here’s a preview of 7 of the films that I’m looking forward to watching most this fall.

The Art of Flight (Brain Farm Digital Cinema)

After 2009’s That’s It That’s All, I thought the best of the best had been reached in snowboard films. I was wrong. Travis Rice and crew are back filming with Brain Farm and the trailer looks amazing.
